History of VACA FISH
VACA FISH was formed in 1971 by three Vacaville residents after reading about a group of people in the Eastern United States who were helping travelers passing through their town.
The Eastern group contacted local gas stations and grocery stores for help and the volunteers made sandwishes for transients. They mostly depended on local residents for donations of money and food.
Archie and Ruth Allen, along with Sally Warner, thought it would be a good idea to do the same here in Vacaville - given the fact that Highway 40 passed right through the city.
Charlotte Waggy, a local teacher, put the organization together.
From this start, VACA FISH now has over 30 people helping with office duties, packing food orders for clients. stocking, and purchasing food for the VACA FISH pantry.
We can always use volunteers.
